Bio

Phillip C. Roberts is a composer and music theorist whose output ranges from peacefully ambient to rhythmically driving. His music is featured on albums, short films, and radio broadcasts, and he has fulfilled commissions for ensembles like Unheard-Of and the opening of the Forbes Center for the Performing Arts. He is the pianist for Trio Apéritif, and has played keys in several funk and soul outlets including Best-of-Cincinnati award winners Fox Soxx. He also played for the Cincinnati Ballet and toured the East Coast and United Kingdom as a collaborative pianist. Roberts advocates for neurodiversity in the arts, partnering with groups like the Lynx Project in Chicago that espouse diversity in art song. Roberts is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Composition and Music Theory at Missouri State University and teaches at Interlochen Center for the Arts during the summer. He completed his doctoral studies at the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music. Roberts received his Doctor of Musical Arts Degree from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and holds a Master of Music Degree from Bowling Green State University.
