Magdalena Wór
Bio
Dr. Magdalena Wór is a performer and teacher. She holds an Assistant Professor position at the University of Wyoming, where she teaches Applied Voice, Vocal Literature, and Opera Workshop courses. She holds degrees in Vocal Performance and English Literature from Georgia State University and the University of Georgia. Dr. Wór is a Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions National Finalist, winner of the National Marcella Sembrich Kochańska Vocal Competition, Finalist of the international Marcello Giordani and Moniuszko Competitions, and an alumna of the San Francisco Opera’s Merola Opera Program and the Domingo-Cafritz Young Artist Program at the Washington National Opera. As a performing artist, Dr. Wór has worked with the National Symphony Orchestra and the National Philharmonic in Washington, DC, the Washington National Opera, Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, Baltic Opera, Washington Concert Opera, The Metropolitan Opera, Atlanta Opera, Virginia Opera, Palm Beach Opera, Richmond Symphony Orchestra, Alabama Symphony Orchestra, and Opera Birmingham, among others. She has sung under the direction of prestigious conductors including Placido Domingo, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Roberto Abbado, Jiří Bělohlávek, Heinz Fricke, Robert Spano, Jean-Luc Tingaud, Harry Bicket, Emmanuel Villaume, Keitaro Harada, and others. Equally at home on large stages and in intimate salon-style recitals, Wór is a proponent of Chamber performances, seeking out and encouraging collaboration of various voices, instruments, composers, and rarely performed repertoire, and is highly dedicated to the dramatic interpretation of vocal literature. She has collaborated with fellow musicians across the United States, as well as in Poland, Mexico, Philippines, Brazil, and Great Britain.
