Bio

Dora Yuru Jin is a pianist and educator currently pursuing the Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano Performance at the University of Kansas under the mentorship of Dr. Priscila Navarro. She previously earned her Master from the Mannes School of Music in New York, studying with Dr. J.Y. Song, and her Bachelor from Wesleyan College, where she was awarded the Wesleyan College Emma Gallaird Boyce Prize for outstanding musical achievement. As an active performer, Jin has appeared at venues such as Steinway Hall at the Guangzhou Opera House, Swarthout Recital Hall, and Arnhold Hall in New York. Her performance engagements include solo recitals, duo concerts, collegiate MTNA showcase performances, and masterclasses with esteemed artists. Jin is an award-winning pianist, receiving top honors in competitions such as the Southeast Young Artist Piano Competition, the Georgia Music Teachers Association competitions. In addition to her performance career, Jin has significant collaborative and pedagogical experience. She has served as accompanist for multiple musical theater productions and choral programs, including Chocolate Factory and Urinetown. She has worked extensively with both children and adults all over the would with bilingual instruction, and hybrid learning formats. Jin also served as translator and assistant for Dr. Graham Scott during the China Lanzhou International Piano Festival. Dedicated to piano pedagogy and the development of innovative teaching approaches, Jin’s current research interests include digital and hybrid models of piano education. She is passionate about expanding accessibility in piano learning and cultivating musical artistry in students of all ages.
