Andrew Cooperstock
Bio
Pianist Andrew Cooperstock has performed widely as soloist and chamber musician on six continents, including performances at New York's Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and the United Nations and on National Public Radio, Radio France, and the British Broadcasting Corporation. With violinist William Terwilliger he has recorded a series of critically acclaimed single-composer discs of American music (Naxos, Azica, and Bridge), and his recording Leonard Bernstein: Complete Solo Works for Piano (Bridge and Deutsche Grammophon) was lauded by Gramophone as “winning” and “brilliant.” American Record Guide calls his newest recording—Opus Two Celebrates Stephen Sondheim: New Chamber Music Arrangements—“delicate and beautiful.” And The JW Vibe praises “Cooperstock’s charming, high fallutin’ piano solo of ‘Now You Know’ from Merrily We Roll Along. A dedicated teacher, Dr. Cooperstock has served as faculty member at Adamant Music School, Brevard Music Center, Round Top, and the University of Oklahoma. Currently he is Director of Global Seminar: Chamber Music France and Professor of Piano at the University of Colorado Boulder, where he received the 2020 Boulder Faculty Assembly Excellence Award in Teaching and Pedagogy. Dr. Cooperstock is past president of Colorado State Music Teachers Association and active with the Frances Clark Center, receiving their 2025 Outstanding Service Award. In Spring 2026 he will serve as a Resident Fellow at the American College of the Mediterranean in Aix-en-Provence, France. Dr. Cooperstock is a graduate of the Juilliard School and the Peabody and Cincinnati Conservatories.
