Bio

"Ethan Stahl is a pianist, teacher, new music advocate, and music administrator. Before coming to CU Boulder for doctoral studies, Stahl previously worked at Missouri State University as a faculty pianist-vocal coach, a position that demanded extensive collaboration with top musicians from MSU and around the world. He has won top prizes in prestigious competitions, including the Grand Prize at the Concert Artists International Competition (resulting in an upcoming performance at Carnegie Hall), 2nd prize at the Naftzger Young Artist Competition, several 1st prizes at the Missouri Music Teachers Association (MMTA) competition, and more.

An advocate for new music, Stahl recently commissioned a new piano work by Guggenheim Fellow Nkeiru Okoye; he also frequently performs and presents on music by living composers including Lera Auerbach, Reena Esmail, and Takashi Yoshimatsu. A dedicated teacher, Stahl has taught piano for over a decade, including private lessons, masterclasses, seminars, and more. Administratively, Stahl currently serves on the board of the Missouri Music Teachers Association as VP of Publications and Public relations, a role encompassing duties from marketing design to conference planning. As of Summer 2025, Stahl has joined and serves the administration team for the prestigious Adamant Summer Music Festival in Vermont."
