Craig B. Parker
Bio
For over four decades, Craig B. Parker has taught music history and played with the faculty brass quintet at Kansas State University. He earned his B.M. in trumpet performance at the University of Georgia, and his M.A. and Ph.D. in historical musicology at UCLA, where Robert M. Stevenson was his major professor. In addition, he has done post-doctoral work at the University of Michigan and Harvard. While president of the CMS Great Plains chapter, he founded the Paul Revitt Award for the best scholarly paper by a student delivered at the chapter's annual conference. Dr. Parker later served as CMS Board Member for Musicology (2014-16) and has been on the program committees for several regional and international conferences. He has presented papers and/or performed at over 110 regional, national, and international conferences, most recently in Bogota, Colombia. Dr. Parker's research and performance interests focus primarily on music since 1945, especially American and Asian American music. In 2011, he was presented the Society for American Music's Distinguished Service Citation "in recognition of your sustained contributions to the Society and with grateful appreciation for nurturing our national music."
