Dr. Se-Hee Jin is a pianist of refined artistry recognized for her insightful interpretations and expressive performances. Praised for conveying intricate musical textures with clarity, precision, and exuberance, she has been acclaimed for illuminating both the structural and emotional dimensions of each work. Critics have described her playing as “brilliant” and “extraordinary” (Fanfare), and Pulitzer Prize-winning composer John Harbison called her “the fearless and insightful interpreter that all composers hope to meet.” As Assistant Professor of Piano at Texas Tech University, Dr. Jin teaches Applied Piano, Keyboard Literature, Keyboard Skills, and Chamber Ensemble to students from undergraduate through doctoral levels. She mentors students in research, competitions, and presentations, fostering artistic and professional growth. Committed to innovative teaching, she integrates Steinway Spirio technology into instruction, providing advanced tools for performance analysis, interactive engagement, and remote learning. She coordinates the annual TTU PianoFest, offering master classes and recitals with distinguished guest artists, including virtual sessions to broaden access. Dr. Jin maintains an active international performance career as a solo and collaborative pianist, appearing across the United States, Canada, Italy, China, and Korea. Her repertoire spans Bach’s The Art of Fugue, German and Russian Romantic works, and contemporary American compositions. She released John Harbison’s solo piano music on the Naxos American Classics label and continues collaborations with American living composers. Alongside solo projects, she participates in chamber and interdisciplinary performances, uniting scholarship, technological mastery, and artistry in all aspects of her work.
